It was created in 1873 and Organized in 1908.

It was named for Philip Henry Sheridan. He was an Irish-American career United States Army officer and a Union general in the American Civil War.

NOTE - If a requester wants to obtain records face-to-face, they must follow a variety of rules in Sheridan County.
