Emmons County is a county situated in the state of North Dakota. In 2021, Emmons County had a population of 3,271, as recorded in a local census. Linton is the current county seat in Emmons County.
It was created in 1879 and Organized in 1883.
It was named for James A. Emmons (1845–1919), a steamboat operator and early Bismarck merchant and entrepreneur.

Records in Emmons County do come with a charge. First copies of birth records cost $7. Death certificates in Emmons County will set a person back $7 for a first copy.
NOTE - There are many rules that must be followed for Emmons County requesters to obtain records. The office is only open between 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m and 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. CST from Monday to Friday. Photo ID is needed to obtain records in Emmons County. Both driver's licenses and state IDs would suffice. Emmons County insists upon public record applications being put in writing.
